The Southeast Regional Symposium on African Studies poster was a really fun project to work on. It was really hard for me to develop and generate thumbnails and original ideas because last semester I did another project dealing with Africa. But I think after I found what I wanted to say about the organization and the civil society in Africa, past and present, then I really pushed my ideas. I love how the patterns within the country turned out. I was really skeptical how the patterns would look. I played with pictures and my own ideas. In the end, I worked from pictures of African patterns to develop my own original patterns. I’m most proud of how the type works with the shape of the country. It naturally fits into the nooks and crannies of the western coast. I also really like how the themes of peace and Africa work together. To my dismay, there was actually this peace-Africa relationship already used by other companies but I decide to keep working with my own version. It ended up looking quite different. Over all I really like how this project came together so quickly.
